40k Tournament, 10th Dec, Bangkok 2000 points (Battlefield Bangkok)

Hi guys! Sorry for the long hiatus but I'm slowly getting back to the hobby table. I've been doing some painting lately and will post more pictures soon. On another note, to all Malaysian gamers, 40k tournament in Bangkok! I know most (maybe all) of you won't be able to make it due to the short notification and the flood situation in Bangkok (don't worry, this side of Bangkok is not affected) as I just heard from the organizer a few days ago. But if you're interested, do drop by and have some 40k fun with the Bangkokians. This what I got so far from the organizer:

-2000 points
-3 rounds each (Swiss style presumably)
-Partially painted army
-Each round will be based on scenario
-No forge world
-All legal codices, Sisters of Battle based on White Dwarf. Also including the latest Necrons Codex.

Fee
- 500 baht (around RM 50) payable in advance. And it will be refunded on the day of the tournament (???) I guess its free as long you showed up. Need to clarify this with the organizer.

Prize
- 1st place winner will get the GW Dreadfleet board game
- Not sure on second place or third. Will get this clarified as well.

From what I see here, it's a pretty loose tournament with less ground rules and regulations like the ones we have here in Malaysia. The main reason here is to encourage new players to join in the fray as they are surge of new players here in Bangkok. Less emphasize on the hobby aspect and more on the gaming side from my point of view but it may be a worthwhile experience. I'm joining the tournament and who knows I might get the coveted Dreadfleet board game. From what I heard there are 7 slots left and I can forward the fee should any of you interested to join in. Again this must be on a first come first serve basis and ONLY you're totally sure if you wanted to play. If you're serious do send an email at faizalsan@gmail.com so that I can inform the organizer immediately. I can also point up some affordable accommodations near Battlefield Bangkok.

Good Tidings from Bangkok

Hi all, as of 27th September 2011, my wife successfully delivered our Triplets into the real world. The babies are slightly premature, being born only at 7 months but perfectly healthy. My wife is doing great and recovering from a C-Section operation and going to be discharged with a clean bill of health. The babies will be staying in the hospital for awhile until they are big enough to come home. Oh, our triplets consists of 1 boy followed by 2 girls. So I'd figured whoever came out first will be the elder sibling even though only a fraction of few minutes.

The babies names are:

1) Raees Aqeel bin Mohamad Faizal (boy)
2) Soraya Nuha binti Mohamad Faizal (girl)
3) Sophia Nadine binti Mohamad Faizal (girl)

I'm proud to say that I'm the first triplet dad among many of my relatives and friends. But with a big bundle comes great responsibility (and stress!!) so hope you guys can pray for our babies well being and wishing me luck as a first time daddy. I guess hobby and wargaming have to take a back seat for awhile and I'll try to post as soon as I have the time do so. Anyways enjoy all your hobbying and wargaming and I'm sure going to miss it for the time being. But hey I got better things to do now, raising the kids!

Night Lords Revisited

I think I'm going a tad too fast with my Pre Heresy Space Wolves project and decided to take a break from it. Had a game with my BA based Night Lords army last weekend with a Dark Eldar army and they performed extremely well (will post a bat rep if I have the mood) But when I looked back at my Night Lords, I don't know, something was amiss. Then I realised I wasn't really happy with the paint job on some of the models particularly the Atramentar Terminators. They lacked 'drama' and looked dull. I know I was aiming only tabletop quality but it seems they're not up to the standards I'm looking for. So 'editing' the Termies are the logical thing to do.

Currently I don't have a representation of one of the Atramentar's champion, namely champion Malek. I had a spare unused Space Wolf Terminator and decided to use to represent Malek. As you can see in the picture below, he's wielding a Thunder Hammer as per the novel. I purposely made the model a dirty with snow dirt, scratched armor and grisly trophies and also appeared freshly killed a Blood Angel marine. I like how the base turned out for my SW project and decided to use for my NL as well.

I've built and started painting another Talos model but this time without a Jump Pack. I've to tweaked my army list a bit after a few rounds and found out that he's more suitable leading the Atramentars rather flying around with the Raptors. The prospect of getting shot at and die early in the game compared to the rest of the NL doesn't really appeal since he's the prophet and all. So now he will lead the Atramentars aboard the Night Stalker (Storm Raven). Below is the current look after a heavy wash of Citadel washes. I will post more pics once I finish painting it.

Vlka Fenryka - Wolf Guard Terminators

Right, after almost 2 weeks of Hari Raya celebration (though not so merry in Bangkok) and food gluttony, its time to get back to the gym and of course, HOBBY! As the tittle entails, it's the Wolf Guards turn this time. I managed to finish painting 3 WG couple of days ago. Check out the pics below.

This will be my Wolf Guard Terminator pack lead by Sigurd Wolfbane (the guy with the Thunder Hammer) For a 1000 points army, I'm fielding 4 of them as a bodyguard for Ulvuruth Longfang or for the Wolf Lord. I'll update more once I finished painting the remainder of the WG.

Vlka Fenryka - More Updates

I'm having a blast with this project at the moment. Never realized converting minis could be quite exhilarating. So this is my update thus far.

This will be my second Grey Hunter squad, led by the Wolf Guard Asgeir Longspear, as per pics below. I managed to base coat it last nite and target to complete it by next week. I'm working on a Pre-Heresy Rhino as well for Asgeir and his boys.

I did some conversion for a Pre-Heresy Terminator. Actually I'm not a fan of the antiquated Terminators broad shoulder pads but to capture that pre-heresy essence, I'm willing to accept. As per the pic below, my first trial run for a pre-heresy Space Wolves Terminator with a cyclone missile launcher. The shoulder pad are actually bendable cardboard including the parchment jutting below the shoulder pad. Added some green stuff for the fur at the top portion and a Havoc Launcher for the Cyclone Missile Launcher (apologies for the pic quality, used a camera phone) For me, it looks great so far and will update further once I finish painting it. Pre-Heresy Space Wolves Terminator

Vlka Fenryka - Ulvuruth Heoroth Longfang

I got this guy done few days ago. He will be the Rune Priest of Tra Company, known as Ulvuruth Heoroth Longfang as per the Prospero Burns novel. A Vlka Fenryka army would not be right without their 'gothi' or rune priest and this guy fits the bill perfectly. I'm not sure if did this guy pre-heresy enough but I'm satisfied with the result.

There's nothing really to it really, 90% of the model came from the Space Wolves bits. The staff however, I used the banner pole from the Chaos Warrior sprues and I attached Space Wolves icon or symbol, whatever you want to call it, so it looked like a gothi staff. Finally some green stuff for the fur.

The base was made of polystyrene, at first I want to use cork, but I got like tons of polystyrene from my store room so I ended up using that. So basically I cut it up to proportionate size, and base coat it with chaos black. Then drybrushed with codex grey and space wolves grey. Finally flocked it with snow. That's it people. 40k Tournament - Bangkok

Heads up to all my fellow Malaysian wargamers! Battlefield Bangkok will be organizing a 40k Tournament sometime in late November. Some of you guys might be interested to fly down here and join in the carnage. The last tournament they had was totally awesome and the prizes were not bad as well (first prize: RM250 worth of store credit!) but the camaraderie you'll gain will definitely worth more!

I will post more updates once they furnish me with more information on the tournament. Rumor has it they might do a 2 days event of miniature wargaming goodness! In the meantime get those minis painted. Who knows you might be bringing it here for some 40k action! As for me, I will post more pre-heresy Space Wolves soon, been slacking off lately due to playing old PC games (Planescape: Torment is highly addictive!)

Vlka Fenryka - Hakon Gudbrand's Pack Completed

I managed to finished my first pre-heresy Grey Hunters pack including the Rhino over the weekend and I must say, I'm totally happy with the result especially with the addition of the MK 1 Rhino. I love the snow so much, I even sprinkled some on top of the Rhino, just to show that they're really in a snowy environment hence befitting the Fenrisians winter climate. Vlka Fenryka - More Grey Hunters

Hi guys! As promised more updates on my Vlka Fenryka project. I managed to finish a few more Grey Hunters as per pics below.

What would be better than to have a pre-heresy Rhino to accompany your pre-heresy Astartes. I got this used Rhino cheaply from a ebay, so I bought a few since my pre-heresy Space Wolves would be pretty much mechanized. Will update more on this once I finish painting it. Vlka Fenryka - First Grey Hunter

This is the first Grey Hunter for my pre-heresy Space Wolves or the Vlka Fenryka. It took me the whole day to finish this guy (while working from home)and frankly I love the result. I mentioned before that I used Chaos Warriors, Space Wolves bits plus some green stuff for my conversion and this model is no exception. The only thing I would like to improve is my sculpting especially the fur and the mantle. I'm taking my time with this project so I'm in no hurry to finish. I've posted pictures below, comments are welcome.

Battle Report: Night Lords vs Black Legion

Had a round of 40k last Saturday at Battlefield Bangkok. It's been awhile since I roll them dices, and with the newly painted Night Lords army, it's high time I get back in the field. It was a game well dominated by the Night Lords, obtaining the 2 objectives from the Black Legion at the end of the game. Below is the battle report with a bit of narrative to it. My apologies for the quality of the photos, I didn't have decent camera with me so the camera phone was the only option.

Introduction

"Mortal, status report, now!" barked the Exalted. Quiver in fear the adjutant responded "We..we are orbiting Punaviti GX1 now lord, the tenth planet of the Banqchaq system. Bu..but we may have a problem. My scan...."abruptly cut off by the Exalted " What problem!? Speak damn you!" ordered the Exalted. "My scan sweep showed a portion of Astartes, com..company strength, already made p..pla..planet fall, lord. Our imagery scan identified the Astartes as the Black Legion" confirmed the adjutant. So, Ruven's clairvoyance was correct indeed, they wanted the gene seeds too, thought the Exalted. "Inform all Claws to make ready for planetfall" ordered the Exalted, without pointing at anyone. "I will lead the attack. Atramentars, to me". Perhaps there's some sport in this trip after all, grinned the Exalted.

The Night Lords 10th company emerged from the ruined town outskirts. Seventh Claw immediately proceed to cover the objective on the left flank, protected by a man made hill. The Land Raider, Storm's Eye, transporting the Atramentars surged forward to meet the Black Legion but was halted as Storm's Eye hit a tank trap and was immobilized. The Bleeding Eyes followed closely behind the Land Raider and they were led by Talos and Ruven. "Night Stalker" with the Exalted and First Claw onboard, flew forward in an attempt to outflank the Black Legion in their own deployment zone on the right flank.

The Black Legion advanced with its Plague Marines quickly covering the objective located behind a church in their deployment zone, supported by a Defiler and a squad of Chaos Marines. The Daemon Prince flew forward, taking cover behind a nearby ruin. A vindicator cruised forward, using the city ruins to cover itself, attempting to engage the Night Lords in the middle of the battlefield. A Black Legion Lord with its Terminator retinue teleported deep inside the Night Lords zone, targeting the vulnerable Seventh Claw. Its Land Raider however suffered an immobilized result, putting it directly in front of Storm's Eye line of sight. The Terminators opened fire on the Seventh Claw Rhino but merely scratched the ancient vehicle. Lascannon shots from the BL Land Raider on Storm's Eye but no damage inflicted, while the Defiler's battle cannon shot missed the pre-heresy Land Raider by a few meters.

The Night Lords retaliated by firing the first shot on the incoming Vindicator. Sensing the threat it might caused, Storm's Eye machine spirit immediately targeted the vehicle with a precised Multi Melta shot, destroying the vehicle outright. It also opened fire on the Defiler with its lascannon, but the Defiler shrugged of the shot with ease. Talos alongside Ruven rallied the Bleeding Eyes to engage the incoming Daemon Prince, while the Atramentar disembarked from Storm's Eye to assist the exposed Seventh Claw.
The Seventh Claw led by Sergeant Halasker disembarked and fired bolter rounds on the Black Legion Lord and Terminators, killing one and wounding the lord. Seeing the enemy lord weaken by Seventh Claw support fire, the Atramentars with their massive claws and hammers, charged the Black Legion lord. The lord, collapsed as the Daemon within his weapon rebelled, wounding him again. Taking advantage of the fortunate event, the Atramentars slaughtered the remaining Terminators and decapitated the Black Legion Lord with contemptuous ease.

On the right flank, near the ruined church, the Daemon Prince assaulted the Bleeding Eyes. Calling forth the power of the warp, the Daemon-thing grabbed Talos before he could even touch the Daemon Prince and was thrown thirty feet away as he slammed into a wall, rendering him unconscious for the remainder of the battle. Ruven, sensing the thrumming power of the warp conjured by the Daemon Prince, forged an unholy sword (Sanguine Sword)protruding from his warped gauntlet and slashed the Daemon thing across its chest, severely wounding it. The Bleeding Eyes took advantage and throttle the life out of the Daemon, banishing its spirit back into the warp.

The Exalted and his First Claw, managed to ambush the Black Legion within their deployment zone. Septimus deftly piloted the "Night Stalker" and the Night Lords emerged from behind ready to engage the dreaded Defiler and a squad of CSM. The Exalted annihilated the Defiler with single melta pistol shot, utterly destroying the Daemon engine. Seeing their war engine destroyed, the CSM charged the Night Lords with pure hatred but only to be annihilated in 2 rounds of vicious close combat.

As the battle drawing to an end, a squad of elite Black Legionaires, managed to slip through the Night Lords perimeter in an attempt to contest the objective on their deployment zone, but only to be confronted by the Atramentar. The Legionaires proved to be no match against the Atramentar and were crushed to pulps. Seventh Claw immediately took the opportunity to secure the objective. On the right flank, near the ruined church, the remaining Black Legion troops, the Plague Marines, were surrounded by the Exalted with his First Claw and Ruven with the Bleeding Eyes. The Plague Marines were destroyed in a single round of unholy combat thus obtaining the second objective for the Night Lords. By now, all of the Black Legion were either fleeing or annihilated. A sounding victory for the Night Lords. Ave Dominus Nox!

This past 3 weeks has been hell for me so apologies for my lack of updates. But I've hobbying and finally finished up my Night Lords project. Frankly its a relieve since I'm tired of painting blue and can't wait to move on to my pre-heresy Space Wolves. Anyways, now I have a fully painted 1750pts Night Lords 1oth Company and they're more than ready to cause mayhem on the battlefield. I'm quite happy with the turnout since I'm only targeting table top quality and not in the run for Golden Daemon or Golden Kris award. For those of you who don't know, this army was solely based on the Blood Angels codex and was also inspired by Aaron Dembski-Bowden Night Lords novels; Soul Hunter and Blood Reaver. Ok enough talking, feast on the pictures below.

Test Model Done

Well it finished sooner than expected and here it is. The painting was pretty simple which involved lots of drybrushing. I didn't do anything fancy albeit it looks good enough on the table.

For the armor, I used Chaos Black, Adeptus Battle Gray, Fortress Gray and Badab Black. First I primed the model with Chaos Black then drybrushing the whole model with ABG. Once its dry, I washed the whole model with thinned down Badab Black. Finally a drybrush of Fortress Gray to bring out that stone grey color of pre-heresy Space Wolves. I admit mine is bit darker than the normal pre-heresy color but I kinda like it this way.

The fur was based with Scorched Brown and drybrushed with Snakebite Leather. The faces were painted using Elf Flesh and and a wash of Gryphone Sepia (I love this wash!!)

Ok THAT's it for now and I really need to finish my Night Lords Stormraven and four more Jump marines before I got pulled further into this project. Laters..

New Project - the Vlka Fenryka!

I'm sidetracking a bit from my Night Lords and to introduce a teaser of my upcoming project; pre-heresy Space Wolves aka Vlka Fenryka! Warhammer 30k dudes!! We already got some positive response from Legio members and other players who are already on board in this pre-heresy project. Initial suggestions to have a pre-heresy army of 1000 points beginning March 2012. I'm aiming for 1750 points but 1000 is a good start. Below is some of the test models that I converted recently.

I looked all over the internet including Space Wolves blogs and forums, most of their pre-heresy conversion were using Chaos Warriors as a basis. So this is great and I don't have to spend so much on FW stuffs. CW are suitable due to their cape attached with Wolf's fur and pelt. This will work great on pre-heresy SW as it compliments their barbaric and savage look (though they're not stupid as they appear) The Horus Heresy - Collected Visions, have tons of pre-heresy pictures and I drew some of my inspirations from there.

So the basic components for this conversion are simple; Chaos Warriors, Space Wolves sprues and Green Stuff. My main goal here is try to make them as 'hairy' as possible and most of them will have that cape. Green Stuff will help to create more fur and also to cover up any gaps.

Well this is just the beginning and quite happy with the preliminary test. I will look for other ways to make them more pre-heresy. For now I'm going to paint this test models and see how they turnout. I will post more pictures soon.

Now back to my Night Lords, only 4 Jump Assault squad and a Stormraven to finish. Then I'm good for the battlefield. Laters..

Some Night Lords Update

Well, I don't know what happened to my last post, it just simply vanished. We can forget about that and move on. I wasn't really hobbying this past one week, basically taking care of my wife needs since we having triplets. I can't imagine when the babies comes, I don't think I can hobby at all if I don't manage my time properly. Got to do some serious organization change!

Enough of that, here's some of my Night Lords updates. I finished with the pre-heresy Land Raider. Not so thrill on the paint job, but considering it's a scratch built, I think it looks great on the table. Take a peek below.

Also I did finished on some of the First Claw squad. Noticed one Night Lord in a Blood Angels plate. It just to show that this rag tag rabble of the previous Night Lords 10th company, was reduced to scavenging other loyal Chapters or traitor legions for equipments, long after the heresy. I've decided to treat them as the Death Company in this Blood Angel based army. I had a try run game 2 weeks ago, imagine six DC with a Chaplain, charged and wiped out a squad of 10 Nurgle Terminators in single assault phase! Stuff of legends right there!

I'm currently working on the Night Lord's Sorcerer/Librarian. I'm halfway done and will post some pictures soon. Laters..

Attic Studio Summer 40k Tourney. Roll call for the Cadian 7th!

Hi guys, this Sunday, May 1st, will marked the long awaited Summer 40k Tournament by Attic Studio, Bangkok. It's going to be bloody, gore-drenched day with 15 participants entering the tournament. The awesomeness of this tourney due to the fact that it emphasizes on the hobby aspect as well with rules such as; no proxies allowed and models have to be partially painted, almost similar to Legio rulepacks. I'll be fielding my Cadian 7th after a really long break, it's high time the Imperial Guard enter the fray once more! I will update more on the tourney soon and also some Night Lords updates. Scratch Built MK 1 Land Raider (Pre-Heresy)

For my Night Lords project, I want to spice up the army by adding something special and rare nowadays in the 41st millennium. And my thought immediately focused on a Space Marine vehicle; a MK 1 Pre-Heresy Land Raider. I found a scratch built template in a Yahoo! group and started to work on it right after. Unfortunately, unlike the previous scratch built titan, this template provides no instruction on how to build the LR. You have to use your wits and a bit of creative touch to finish it. But overall its not that difficult; hey if I can do it, most of you most definitely can! Feast on the pictures below.

I got these LR doors from Forge World, solely for this project. A bit pricey for a scratch built but I want that Night Lords look to it, so what the hell!

Well, not your everyday cheesy list, but I think its playable and can be a competitive list and most importantly I really wanted it to fit the fluff from the novel. I was thinking of fielding Baal Preds in this army but then again Night Lords don't have access to that vehicle. The Stormraven however can be utilized since it was mentioned in the novel that Septimus (the Legion serf) piloted a drop ship that was similar to the Stormraven.

Moving on, this is Talos the Prophet, former Apothecary of the 10th company. I did some conversion using a Chaos Warrior back, Space Wolves power weapon, and some bits from the Vampire Counts zombie sprues. The fur on the shoulders were sculpted using epoxy putty. I'm quite happy with the result, probably it was not the best but I think its tabletop quality.

Fear The Night!

After reading Soul Hunter by Aaron Dembski Bowden, I'm happy to announced that I'm starting a new project; the Night Lords Legion! This novel really opened up my eyes on the once loyal legion and why it went rogue against the Imperium. I'm so intrigued by the book and even read it twice! A brief synopsis, the novel was mainly about the ragtag remnants of the Night Lords 10th Company lead by the Exalted (former 10th Captain) and his prophet Talos, a former Apothecary. Talos was somewhat favored by their murdered Primarch Konrad Curze as he shared Konrad's ability to see the future. Talos has to save whatever left of his Legion from the Imperium, rival Legions and the taint of the Ruinous Powers simultaneously.

I will not base this army on the CSM codex and will be using the Blood Angels Codex instead. The reason for this was that in the novel I noticed that the Night Lords of the 10th Company still utilizing equipments such as Drop Pods and flyer transports that resembles the Storm Raven. The Night Lords are known for their terror tactics whilst engaging their enemy through short range skirmishes and brutal close quarters fighting. The BA Codex will fit the fluff perfectly. Also another worthy note, the Night Lords of the 10th marooned in the Eye of Terror after the Heresy and for them its only been only a few decades after the Heresy whereas in reality its already been 10000 years. So they still maintain pre-heresy Astartes tactics such as the usage of tactical squads and Company organization.

I've already started the project about a week ago and managed to finished up the first tactical squad 'Seventh Claw' led by Sergeant Adhemar. Take a peek below.

I'm happy with the Seventh Claw turnout, which motivates me to proceed to the next part; the Assault Terminators or the 'Atramentar'. The Atramentar are the personal Terminator bodyguards of the Exalted and most of them are equipped with thunder hammers and lightning claws. I finished up with one Atramentar terminator as per below.

I have other things in mind such as the jump pack assault squads but one thing at a time. After finishing my Vampire Counts and Space Wolves, the Night Lords will be a breath of fresh air and really looking forward to work with this fluff army. Ave Dominus Nox!

Scratch Built Warhound Titan Part 2

This is the final version of my scratch built Warhound project. It looked decent enough for any Apoc games and well, I think it was not bad for my first tryout. I've identified few areas that can be improved in future projects especially in the leg joints and weaponry. I'm planning to build 2 more by the end of this year and maybe, just maybe a Reaver Titan. They will all belong to the Legio Ignatum and part of my support unit for my Cadian 7th Battle Group.

Scratch Built Warhound Titan

Happy New Year everyone! The title says it all. Yep, a scratch built titan! I was cleaning up my lap top for trash files and I found out that I've a blueprint cutout to build a Lucius Pattern Warhound. So why not start the new year by building this titan. I have other projects in the pipeline including a Cadian 7th Armored Company but I'll start with the titan for now. Like most scratch build models, you just need the basics; A4 cardboard paper, PVA glue, scissors, spare sprues and patience.

Its pretty easy building it and the only hard part was waiting for the glue to dry up which can be time consuming. First, I printed the cutout on the A4 cardboard paper, cut it out and ready for assembly.

I started the assembly process parts by parts and I started off with the titan foot, shin and leg.

The second phase were assembling the warhound's waist and leg brace.

The final phase, assembling the body, hull, head and titan weapons. You can fit the warhound with 2 weapons from 4 weapon selections, I choose the Turbo Laser Destructor and Vulcan Mega Bolter

I haven't decided on the color scheme for the warhound but I primed it nonetheless with Tamiya Luftwaffe Grey Violet spray.

That's about it folks. It took me 2 days to finish the assembly but seriously it wasn't that hard and it cost me dirt to build it lol! 40k Winter Tournament Bangkok - Aftermath

Awesome tournament and great times indeed! Game face on, put on my sacred Legio T-shirt and I'm ready for war! I played quite well, even though I've not been playing 40k for months. I fielded my Space Wolves for the tourney and they performed superbly. Oh yeah, my Space Wolves is fully painted but I haven't really post any pictures yet, will do so later. For now, here's a quick report of what happen in the tourney yesterday.

My Space Wolves tactics is simple, assault and more assault.

With no long range fire power, my tactics will be harassing the enemy line if possible by turn 1. The Wolf Lord was attached with the Blood Claws and embarked in the Land Raider to assault the enemy ASAP supported by the seemingly indestructible Thunder Wolves. Wolf Guard terminators will drop behind the enemy line to disrupt any vehicle threats or create a diversion and finally the Grey Hunters to sweep up any remaining enemy units with bolter fire and claim objectives. I have to be careful due to the limited resources, and placing and positioning was crucial especially in the first mission, objectives.

First Mission - Objectives, vs Orks. Won
My first was opponent was Zohar from Israel, fielding his massive foot slogging Ork army. Basically the table was divided into 6 deployment zones and and the winner of the roll off, rolls 3D6. Zohar won the roll off and roll D6s of 2,3 and 6 deployment zone. So i got to deploy on zone 1,4,5. One objective placed in each deployment zone. I deployed my L.Raider and the Thunderwolves behind a ruin to on the right flank of the table. The L.Raider with the embarked Wolf Lord, Blood claws smashed the first wave of Ork offensive and the Thunder Wolves outflanked them on the left. The Grey Hunters and the Wolf Guards were running a hit and run mission on the left flank of the table to contest objectives.

I won the game by 3-1 on objectives with most of the Orks being completely wiped out. It was a great round, Thunderwolves rocks!

Second Mission - Killpoint, vs Blood Angels. Won
This game was basically a bloodbath for the Blood Angels lol. The Thunderwolves and the Blood Claws with the Wolf Lord rampaged throughout the game killing marines, Rhinos, Baal Predators. I won 8 kill points and my opponent Bobby gutted 4. Whoever win this round, got D3 Orbital Bombardment for the final round. I rolled a D3 and got 1 O.B.

Third Mission - Objectives, vs Dark Eldar. Lost
This is the final round of the tourney. I was facing Nicky and his new Dark Eldars. Boy, they're different now, faster and more punishing weapons. This round we have to claim objectives. Table was divided half, 3 objectives were placed, one in each deployment zone and one objective at the center table and can only be claimed by troop choice units. The trick was, once the objective is claimed, the enemy who wished to grab the objective must killed the troop unit who's claiming the objective or drive them off. And you don't have to be within 3' of the objective to contest. Sounds weird but there lie the challenge. Nicky seized initiative and shot my L.Raider to bits with his Dark Lances. Not a good start for me. My Thunderwolves advanced after shots of Dark Lances, splinter rifles, shots from Helions. In the meantime Nicky touched his objectives within his deployment and I claimed the middle objective and in my deployment zone with the Wolf Lord and Blood Claws. Orbital Bombardment decimated one squad of Helions and the Thunderwolves engaged a Squad of Helions and Kabalite Warriors. Time was running out as the fate of the battle lies within the center table with the Wolf Lord and his Blood Claws facing an Archon, Haemonculus with his Wyches and Wracks. The Wolf Lord and his Blood Claws fought valiantly but finally beaten and the D.Eldars claimed the objective and the game ended in turn 4 due to time restriction. It would've been different if the game went on to turn 5 as the Thunderwolves destroyed the remaining helions and kabalites and they're free to move and engaged the D.E in the middle. Also a squad of Grey Hunters is still alive and will be able to claim the middle objective. Alas, the game ended and it was a nail biting conclusion. Great game indeed from a great opponent!

Nicky (in the picture below) won the tourney, good job bro! I finished second, got a trophy (trophy stays in the shop..hehe) with a unit of Grave Guards. All I can say it was a great tourney, great crowd and I'm proud of representing Legio here in Bangkok. Now to go home and assemble them Grave Guards, weeeeee!

Vampire Counts

Not much progress so far, as usual blaming on work and study. I've only managed to paint a few zombies but I'm nearly finish. That's what happen when you have like 130+ models to paint. 20 Ghouls, 10 Grave Guards and 2 Vampire Heroes, then I'm all done. My VC project should be completed by end of December 2010, hopefully. (Why I got the feeling Jeff is going to outpace me with his Beastmen project..)

Also I had few games with my VC so far and I'm loving it. I think VC is still formidable in the 8th edition environment. Had a lengthy 2000 point game with Bobby's VC last weekend , a S&D regular, and it was a blast! I only managed a draw though, but all I can say 30 Grave Guards(Great Weapon, Banner of Barrows) with a Combat Vampire(BSB) and supported by a Corpse Cart (Miasma of Pestilence)bound with a Necromancer (Vanhels Danse Macabre) and Vampire Lord with Helm of Commandment, they basically rampaged throughout the game, killing 30 Grave Guards and almost 40 Crypt Ghouls with a Vampire Hero, and yet they survived till the end of the game! That's a stuff of legends right there.

Tournaments , Bangkok

As you can see in the ad above, Slice & Dice will be hosting a 40k Tournament in December, woohoooo!! I haven't been playing 40k for awhile, more like months, and this tournament will be a great refresher! Finally my Space Wolves can see some real action. And my good friend Nicky is returning to Bangkok with his new Dark Eldar army I presumed. My Frost blade hungers for some Dark Eldar blood! I'm really looking forward to this tournament. Cometh the Undead - Progress of House Corvinus 2

Further updates from my VC's progress. Finally I finished up with the Grave Guards plus a combat vampire using Vlad's model.

Initially I had only 10 GGs but with a bit of imagination and extra sprues, managed to get 20 in the form of freshly resurrected GGs. This is temporary while waiting my shipment from Maelstrom but I think it looked decent and playable. Also I flocked the movement trays with grass to match their bases.

My combat vampire, Carugarul Corvinus the Bloody. Spent a few hours on this bloke but I think it turned out nicely. I just love the Vlad von Carstein model and honestly I think is the best looking vampire from Citadel. Mostly Chaos Black and Boltgun Metal for the armor with a wash of 1:1 Scorched Brown and Chaos Black. The highlights of Codex Grey on the black portion and Boltgun Metal on the the metals. For the spectral cape, base of Chaos Black and wash of Warlock purple. Continued with a light layer of Warlock purple. Then highlights of 1:1 Warlock Purple and Skull White and further highlight of Skull White on the spectral faces. And finally a light Minwax treament to bring out the face portion of the model.

Cometh the Undead - Grave Guards, Corpse Cart

Hi guys, finally I can do some hobbying after a month of assignments, projects, finals and blah blah..Seriously working and doing your Masters at the same time is beeeeaaatcchhh! Just got no time to hobby. Well I did some gaming at Slice & Dice and recently we had huge Warhammer game (i think it was like 15000 points per side..) but more on that later. I got a window of 1 week before my second term starts and frankly I have to finish my VC project, pronto! I think got to resort to a mini iron painter method to finish up. Well here's some of my recent progress from 2 days ago which are the Corpse Cart and some Grave Guards.

Grave guards are pretty easy with Bleached Bone, well on the bones, Boltgun Metals on the armor, some Dwarf Bronze on thier crests and helms, Blood Red on the cloths. Then the obvious Minwax dip with the matt spray after drying, finito!

For the Corpse Cart I have to put in a little effort on it. For the zombies first a basecoat of Bronze flesh, then heavy wash of Dark Flesh and highlights of Elf Flesh before dipping. This is to bring out some of that fleshy zombie vigour. Well I kinda like how it turned out. The wooden portion of the cart, base coat of Graveyard Earth and wash of Scorched Brown. Then the other obvious parts like the wheel and axle with Boltgun Metal and the dip will do the rest.

Cometh the Undead - Zombies

We all the new Fantasy BRB provided wealth of history, backgrounds and even painting and converting miniatures. If your flip the pages in the Fantasy BRB, you'll find the 'kit bashing' part in the converting your mini's section. That's what I did with my zombie unit. I maximized whatever sprues I have to make a unit of 40 zombies from a kit for 20. Take a peek below.

I started piling up all the sprues I can use such as tombstones, heads and hands, as if the Zombies were freshly animated or exhumes from their graves. I think its cost saving and it also add some drama to the zombie units.

Then I base painted everything before dipping. One think I hate about painting zombies because there are lots of colors that need to be use or the zombies will look dull. Well at least that's what I thought because I want my zombie unit to look vibrant but maintaining the dead image at the same time. Below are the dipped zombies before giving the matt finish.

Below some of the completed zombies for my VC. It's pretty simple and cost saving at the same time. I'm going back to Malaysia next week for Hari Raya, and will be paying Legio Malaysia a visit on 17th Sept. Hope some of you Legio regulars are there for a game or two. Hopefully I've enough space in my baggage to put at least one army for gaming. Probably I'll bring my Space Wolves, well I just don't know yet. Till then laters...

A slight deviation from my VC progress. All this while I've been talking about my Cadian 7th and their exploits but never really showcase any of the models except a few pictures from various blog posts. My army list was based on the Mechanised Battalion regime, meaning usage of Veteran troops in Chimeras supported by Leman Russ tanks and Vendetta air support. For this part I will show the vehicles portion of the Cadian 7th. Well to all of you IG nutters, here goes.

Cometh the Undead - Progress of House Corvinus

The House Corvinus will be the fluff for my Vampire Counts. Rather than stick to the von Carstein family tree I decided to branch out a bit, and it's actually based on the legends of Vlad III the Impaler. Progress for my VC army have been very slow due to work and pursuing my MBA at the same time. In addition to that, it is Ramadan now and I'm not really focused on hobbying too much in this holy month. I've set a timeline until 30th September to have a fully painted VC army but I doubt whether I can finish by the dateline. Nevertheless I did set a moderate timing for my hobbying and completed a small portion of my VC forces.

All painted models got the Minwax treatment, and some in need of matt finish to get rid of the gloss. Again all were painted base color and no shading, wash or highlight except for the Dire Wolves. The skin portion were painted Bronze Flesh and with a slightly heavy wash of Dark Flesh before dipping, to have that decayed skin effect.

As above, I'm good for 2000 points at the moment (Corpse Cart proxied as Black Coach). Yet I still need 10 Grave Guards, a Black Coach and Vargulf to have a nice 2250 point list. There will be a huge Fantasy game at Slice and Dice on 29th August to commomerate S&D first year anniversary. It will be a battle between 2 Generals which I have to pledge my forces to either one's banner. It's more of a Apoc Fantasy version and I'm sure it's going to be huge and awesome! Win from S&D actually built a castle from scratch for the battle and it looked amazing even at construction phase. A baptism of fire for House Corvinus should that day be the first day of shedding (and drinking) blood in the Warhammer realm. From Sylvania with love, laters..

Fast Painting Skeletons

My VC army will have tons of Ghouls and Skelies and to paint them nicely could and can be a daunting task indeed. A while back I've used the Minwax tecnique, made famous by Legio Malaysia co-founder, Jeff Brooks. It worked like a charm for my Cadian 7th and I think it will work well with VC since they emphasises on flesh and bone color tones. I've finished the first batch skeletons and I think it look fantastic and battle ready. Take a look below.

All of the skelies are base color painted and no wash or shading whatsoever. The bones are painted Bleach Bone, Blood Red for their banners, Boltgun Metal for spears, armor and helmets and Snake Bite Leather and Scorched Brown for their cloths and scabbards. Sands and flocks of grass for the bases. Once finished, I simply dipped them in the Wax, just like a fondue. It even worked nicely on the bases too, as the recesses of the Wax will eventually flows down towards the sands and grasses. Once dipped, leave it to dry for at least 8 hours. Once dried it will something like in the picture above. It will have a glossy effect due to Wax. To counter this you can use Tamiya Flat Spray TS-80. I'm working on the ghouls as well and will post more pics once it's done. Gotta love the Wax! Laters..

For Russ and The Allfather - Part 2

I've finished painting the Land Raider. I've found an old Rhino somewhere in my sprue junks. I did some repairs on it and resulted in a nice and also free Rhino transport for my Grey Hunters. I've added some snow effect on the vehicles too, just to depict the Space Wolves nature and snowy Fenrisian background. It also marked the presence of a Rune Priest whom had just conjured up a blizzard storm. Take a peek below (sorry for the picture quality as I'm using my Nokia E71 camera phone)

I'm working on a Thunderwolf conversion as you can see below. I'm planning to have 5 of them and obviously I could not afford to buy 5 Canis Wolfborn models. So I went to Toy's r Us and found a wolf looking toy (a lion actually) which was big enough for the Space Wolves model to ride on. I'm not sure how it will turn out but am hoping for a good result. The first batch of my VC army has arrived and fully assembled. I've pre-ordered the new hard back Warhammer rulebook from Maelstrom, it should arrive in couple of weeks. I must say I'm pretty excited with the new VC army I'm building and the new Warhammer rules but 40k is still my main forte and will never lose sight on that.

Now, painting a VC army can be daunting especially skeletons and zombies and you need more of them with magics like Raise Dead, Invocation of Nehek and Summon Undead Horde. I'm imploring the idea of Minwax 'dipping method', since it worked like a charm for my Cadian 7th. A thought to consider.

For Russ and The Allfather

I've vigorously started on my Space Wolves project, though there's still a long way to go. The biggest challenge are the Thunderwolves conversion which I've managed to complete only one, but more on that later. For now I'm concentrating on the backbone of the Sons of Russ legion such as the Grey Hunters and Wolf Guards. Check out some of the finished minis below.

For the Grey Hunter armor, I started with a base coat of Shadow Grey. Then a wash of 1:1:1 Shadow Grey, Chaos Black and Scorched Brown unto the armor joints and crevices. Then highlights of 1:1 Shadow Grey and Space Wolves Grey on the armor edges. Its pretty simplistic and looks good enough for gaming.

The Wolf Guard terminators were slightly different however. I liked to maintain that elite stature of the WG and decided to paint most of their armor black. Now, some might go against this since black would directly represents the Wolf Priests. To counter that, I've added the standard Shadow Grey on other parts of the WGs armor. The black portion was further highlighted with Codex Grey.

I'm currently working on the Land Raider Redeemer, will post more pics once completed. Till then laters..

Showdown at Slice and Dice!

Last weekend, me and Khairul went to S&D for a game, my Cadian 7th versus his Saim Hann Eldar. Me and Khairul were a bit rusty after not playing 40k for awhile but we had good slicing dicing good time. An annihilation/dawn of war mission which I won by a few kill points. Most of the patrons there were impressed by Khairul's clean and beautifully painted Saim Hann and it was good to see the them in action again. Next week I'm planning to try out BFG using Khairul's models for the time being.

Next I had a game with Win, S&D's main man. A super cool guy and had an awesome round of 40k against his IG Deathkorps. We played a 1750 point game and it was spearhead/capture & control. Win's Deathkorps truly followed the 'war of attrition' ideology and used mass infantry platoons, cavalry charges supported by Leman Russes, Medusa artie and lascannons heavy support units. My mechanized Cadians were overwhelmed and they kept on coming even with high ammount of casualties. Win's Deathkorp was in my deployment zone by turn 3 and the Cadians were on the defensive all the way. The only option was to outflank his objective with my Valkyrie but it went to my deployment zone instead. Precised and well ordered Lascannons shots disrupted my tanks and were rendered useless. The game went on to turn 6 and the Deathkorp was able to contest my objective in my deployment zone, with a handful troops managed to reached the Cadian's line. Deathkorp 1, Cadian 0. It was an awesome and both were pretty much exhausted. That's it for now, till then, laters..

Cometh the Undead!

That's right! The Undead will be my new Warhammer Fantasy army and I'm planning a 2500 points strong force. Too often I went to Slice and Dice here in Bangkok and come to realise that they play Fantasy here more than 40k. What a better way to start by joining the crowd here. I had plan earlier to start a Vampire Counts army but the Space Wolves got in the way. Now that I'm almost finish with the Fenrisians, VC will be my new project, and I foresee that this might take some time to complete (family, work and pursuing my MBA at the same time, huhu..). To start I've gotten myself 2 packs of Dire Wolves and a battalion of undead are on its way from Maelstrom consisting of 2o skeletons, 20 zombies, 10 crypt ghouls and a corpse cart. Also with the imminent launch of the 8th edition version, this is the perfect time to start a Fantasy army. Below is the army list I'm planning to construct, comments and advice are welcome.

This army is some what flexible with Vlad, Necromancer and the Vampire can help to raise unsavory Undeads and support the army. Also with so many Dark Magics coalescing around can help to pump the Black Coach and make it a monster in close combat. Not to forget Vlad himself is the most powerful Vampire around and he's strong enough to see mostly any foes supported by Grave Guards along side the Wight King. Zombies and Skeletons provide weight of numbers in combat, Dire Wolves can make dangerous flank and rear charges while the Fellbats can disrupt enemy artillery units. Finally, the Spirit Hosts (I love this ghosts so much, being Ethereal and all..),Vargulf and the Black Coach will do much needed damage to the enemy. This is prelim of course and comments and advices are welcome.

Graham McNeil has done it again. What an excellent book and a must read for Space Wolves and Thousand Sons followers! All I can say, you wouldn't understand the origins of the the Thousand Sons legion until you read the book. They are not what as they are portrayed now by the current Imperial historians. They are more to them than meets the eye and power wielded by them were magnificent and tragic at the same time. Go and take a read, 4.5 out of 5 rating in my books. I can't wait until they released the sequel to this book, 'Prospero Burns' by my favorite author Dan Abnett.

Hobby Spots in Bangkok

Sawaddee krap! I took the day off yesterday to scour around Bangkok for any potential hobby spots. My search was not in vain as I managed to locate 2 great hobby places along the Sukhumvit line (to be exact Sukhumvit 101/1, Soi Piyabut) The great thing about Bangkok was that they have an excellent LRT (they call it BTS Stations) and MRT services. It's convenient for me as the BTS Station is so near to my apartment. All I need to do, hop on the train and stop at On Nut E11 BTS Station and take a short bus or taxi ride to the destination. Oh, I forgot to mention that the 2 hobby spots are adjacents to the other. How cool was that.

I'll start with the first one. It's called Battlefield Bangkok. As you can see from the pics below, it's more of a hobby store, selling card games, board games and some GW merchandises (though not that extensive). They also carries other miniature hobby such as Warmachines, Anime and etc. Currently it has one big table for gaming and they have enough terrain pieces for gaming utilization. The Thais over at BB speak excellent English and I even have a long chat from hobby to work topics with two of the store patrons Krit (pronounce Grit in Thai) and Nat. They are super friendly and we can have our gaming activity anytime except Monday and Tuesday which the store closes. The store has numerous crowds from 40k to Fantasy and board game enthusiast. The store kinda reminds me of Wolf's place back in Malaysia. Here's the link to their website http://www.battlefieldbangkok.com/. Beginning of May, BB will relocate to a bigger and better location which is not far from the current location, and like they always say, the bigger the better. I couldn't have come at a better time. The second location is called Slice and Dice (400 metres away from BB) Now, this store is not like BB in any way or resemblence, but it has high concentration of 40k and fantasy crowd. Basically this place breeds and breathe 40k and Fantasy. The place has at least 6 beautifully built gaming tables complete with terrains, ruins, and etc. It even has a huge 40' Full HD TV with Playstation console and a comfy looking couch to relax on. I hung out for awhile with the folks at S&D and got acquinted with a guy called Wayne. Again they guys over there speak excellent English and no problem gaming with them. Wayne is like the local favorite at S&D and have a myriad of armies ranging from 40k to Fantasy. I managed to peek at his IG Deathkorp regiment and it's anything but stunning. Jeff would've loved to see his army. The store itself has excellent collection of armies on display. They frequently have 40k and Fantasy tourneys, which I'm very keen to join later. Right now they are planning for Spore Con and most of them are interested on attending. We'll see how it goes. Check out their website at this link http://www.thaitabletop.com/. I heard there's another store at Siam Center, at the famous Ratchaprasong intersection, but currently the Red zealots of Khorne have taken over that intersection and most shopping mall there are close until further notice. After 3 months...

Fuuuhhhhhh..(slowly blowing dusts and spider webs on my blog)..Its been awhile, I know..only lame excuses such as work and chores I could entertain u guys with..lol..but alas not much activity for me this past few months. I missed most of Legio tourneys and events and the biggest one was the Kindred tournament hosted by the Khairul and Arzmi ,due to my imminent move to Bangkok. (Khairul, will do something in Bangkok once you reached here, thats a promise bro!!) Most of you would know by now that I'm in Bangkok sector of Segmentum Thailand.

But that doesn't mean I totally ignore my hobby. After a successful stint with my Cadian 7th, I'm starting a 1750 Space Wolves army. Check out below some of the painted Grey Hunters below. The highlight of this army will be the Thunderwolves and I'm fielding six of them. Will update more on this soon.

I can't do much hobby right now due to the bulk of my hobby tools are still transiting in the warp, pending arrival. I'm still looking for hobby venues in Bangkok and actually found one, Battlefield Bangkok. I haven't got the chance to visit them yet, but by looking at the Bangkok map, it's not that far from my location. They actually held some sort of tournament to determine the players representing them to Spore Con..how stringent is that, hehe but kinda cool nonetheless. Khairul was in town yesterday and we met up to do some sightseeing. It was nice indeed to see a fellow legio here, dude, can't wait to see you again on the 29th..We'll goin to teach the Thais how to play 40k, Legio style!! Ok, now I heard there's an increasing popularity of BFG in Legio, hmmm, should I start a fleet? I guess better familiarise myself with the rules at the least. Will discuss with Khairul once he's here. Thats it from me for now..Laters..

This excel format can be utilise for other codices, as long you are willing to create a new formula and input for that specific codex. It's pretty intuitive, check it out.

Arenxis Campaign: Defeat at Dunnkyrc & "Kindred"

The Imperium was defeated at Dunnkyrc! The attempt to evacuate the Supreme Commander of Arenxis and her adjuntant was foiled. A daring assasination attempt from Chaos Terminators of the World Eaters, teleported in front of the Commander and her Eldar escorts. The Supreme Commander was reduced to molten goo as she was obliterated by a meltagun blast. That's good enough to warrant a victory for the Forces of Chaos. Sigh..All I need a 3+ cover save for her and I failed. Sorry guys..At least the Imperium can find solace with the death of Lord Minthras, the mighty leader of the Unclean. Although the Imperium was defeated, it was a great campagin nonetheless. Great thanks to Azlan for planning and organizing this awesome and diabolical campaign. Also thanks to all participants who make this campaign a success. All the tauntings, postings, strategies and dice roll actions were memorable indeed. Can't wait for the next one. Slow week to Hobby Nite and "Kindred"

I'm in a rut this week, no hobby done what so ever. Maybe too much workload hence I'm just not in the mood to paint, convert or what ever. My hands have been itching to roll them dices after 2 weeks of no gaming. Can't wait for this coming hobby nite! The evacuation of Arenxis Minoris. The Cadian 7th will see it done. For the Emperor!!

Now, on the doubles tournament Kindred, which is the brainchild of Legio members Arzmi and Khairul. It will be held in March 2010 after the Iron Painter (February 2010) competition. Please check out the rulepacks at the Legio website (Kindred banner). A 2 person team format tournament which each are allocated 500pts per person. This will be the first such event ever in Legio's history and it will incorporate the Legio Hobby Tournament (LHT). The LHT emphasized on the hobby aspect of Warhammer 40k and encourage its participants to show their hobby enthusiasm during such event. The good thing about the LHT is the introduction of Best General trophy for players who scored the highest point regardless of his army appearance (must be to a minimum standard). Meaning if your painting like crap but scored the highest battle points, you got yourself the Best Generals trophy! I can't wait for the tourney. I'll be fielding my Chaos Black Legion for Kindred, anybody interested to pair up? Preferable Chaos or forces of Disorder.

Heavy Bolter Justice

With no hobby nite and no dice rolls action this week, I sidetracked a bit from my BL Project and did some simple IG conversions . See that guy up there? Its Sergeant Deric Sorin of the Tanith regiment (count as Gunnery Sergeant Harker) and he will lead a Tanith Vet Squad into battle. Good thing bout this guy, he confers Infiltrate, Stealth and Move thru Cover. Meaning his squad can Outflank, get at least 3+ cover saves if in cover and 3D6 move thru difficult terrain. Furthermore this guy got Feel No Pain (just for him) and Relentlessly carrying a Heavy Bolter. Awesome!! He fits perfectly among the Tanith's with their stealth and infiltration tactics. Can't wait to see this guy in action.

On the conversion, the torso and leg are Cadian sprues, the arms and head from Catachans, the Heavy Bolter conversions from the Leman Russ Tank sprues.

Painting also wasn't that complicated. Base coated with Chaos Black. Pant's Catachan Green with a highlight of Gnarloc Green. Body armor Graveyard Earth and wash of Scorched Brown. The H.Bolter with Boltgun Metal and highlight of Codex Grey. The face and arms are a bit detailed however. I started with Bronze Flesh and wash it with a watered down Dark Flesh. Then a thin layer of Dwarf Flesh and then a highlight of Elf Flesh. And for the finale, dipped with Minwax Golden Oak (works all the time hehe..) and that's it! Simple and saves me at least RM 60 from buying the Sergeant Harker model. Benissimo!

Now, to get back to my Black Legion Berzekers, which I've managed to finished only 3 berzerkers this week rather than my original target of 10. Laters..

Hobby Nite - 20th Nov

Another great hobby nite at Legio. I came in a bit late but just in time for the Legio Members meeting. Had a healthy dose of ideas from the members towards progressing Legio as a leading hobby club in Malaysia such as Doubles format tournament, Iron Painter competition, Market Garden campaign for Flames of War, just to name a few. 2010 will be an eventful year for Legio, I guarantee it. Jeff will post the minutes of meeting at the Legio website soon and you can catch what were dished out at the discussion table. All I can say it will be great year ahead and there's no better time to be part of this awesome hobby club.

After the discussion, had a round of 40k with Dann's formidable Eldar with my new Black Legion army list. It was SG mission with Spearhead deployment. It was a tight game which I won by 1 objective. Khorne Berzerkers are awesome, they managed to destroy and wrecked a Falcon and Fire Prism even with their cursed holofields! A great start for Abadon's forces. Other dice rolls actions, Cityfight battle between Subhan's Daemons and Lan's Brandenburg in which the Brandenburg emerged victorius and later Subhan's White Scars overrun Shazli's Ultramarines. Arzmi's Daemonhunters defeated Red Eye's White Scars and tarpits battle between Khairul's Saim Hann and Ivan's Nurgle Common Cold, not sure who won but I think the Saim Hann did. Lastly it was IG (Nahri's Bradenburg usurpers, lol, very funny lan) vs IG (Lan's Bradenburg), not sure who won that coz I left before the game ended. Oh, Soo Jinn and Kong was there too, playing Infinity, not sure what was the game like since too busy battling with Dann.

Later Arzmi, Khairul, Iqbal, Subhan and myself reconvened at the famous mamak stop for some unhealthy food and drinks. Another great hobby nite, can't wait till next week. Ciao!

Black Legion Update

As I've mentioned before, I've finished painting 3 BL Terminators and a Terminator Sorcerer. I find it quite easy to paint with black color scheme and to make the black stands out, a highlight of Codex Grey on the armor edges. Finally few brushes of Minwax Golden Oak on the skulls, tusk, horns and other visible crevices. Check out below:

Legio 40k Tourney - The inquisition Wars

Wow!! That was a great event by Legio. Cool t-shirts, complimentary super cool measuring device and great looking crowds and also armies. That is what Legio tourney is all about, the best there is! Congrats to all the winners and participants for making this tourney an eventful one.

How did I do in the tourney? Well, I won 2 and lost 1 and scored above average for both appearance and sportsmanship, ended up at 9th placing. I'm really happy with the appearance scores (thanks judges..lol) and this really a motivation to take my paintings to a higher plane.

My Cadian 7th performed well in the tourney but my Manticore was a let down. Maybe I've not mustered the tactics to utilise it, but the rest of the Cadians performed well nonetheless. First round was against Xian's gun line Imperial Guard which I won, LUCKILY, for the battle ended at turn 5 with a Vet squad with 5 men left holding the objective at the center table. What was left, a damaged Executioner and a Battle Canonless Leman Russ.

Second round, against Spore Con 2009 Overall Champion, Tsui with his beautiful and deadly Space Wolves army. I lost badly this round but it was a fun game nonetheless. My dice rolls were abysmal with bad pen rolls and leadership tests. But the highlight of the game when a single meltagun shot from my Stormtroopers managed to explode a Land Raider Redeemer. Living Lightning was nightmare, most of my Chimeras got wrecked due to that wretched psychic power. The Manticore however, survived till the end with not a single damage done on the Space Wolves, how pathetic! It was a near total annihilation on the Cadians.

Third round, the Cadian 7th returned with a superb win after that woeful encounter with the Space Wolves. This round was against Nik Kamal's Eldar. A Kill Point game, my Executioner performed well this round, killing most of his ground troops including Prince Yriel. Veterans picked off Wave serpents and Falcons with precised Meltagun shots. The battle ends at turn 6 with 8 to 5 kill points favoring the Cadians.

I was exhausted after the 3rd round. We proceeded to the prize ceremony (go to Legio's Website for the list of winners and rankings) and then headed to nearby mamak near Oldtown for gossiping session, hehe..which then I realised I've missed Asar prayer..hmmm. But it was a great event indeed and can't wait for the next Legio tourney. AVE LEGIO!!

Season 3 League and moving forward

I've ended up 3rd place for Season 3 league and automatically qualified for the finals on December 5th. I thought Jo going to dethroned me last Friday, eventhough he managed to win a game but not enough points for 3rd placing. Anyhow, the 4th player will be the determined after the Marksman tournament which is on November 28th. I wonder who'll make it thru this time? Whatever it is, the Cadian 7th fears no one (well maybe the Orks, lol..) and ready for battle. For the Emperor!!

Moving forward, after the League finals, my Cadians will get a deserved long break and I'm reactivating my long stalled Black Legion project. I've finished painting 3 BL Terminators so far (see below) and will proceed to finish 10 BL Berzerkers by next week. Maybe after that, I'll start work on Abadon, and yes he will lead my Black Legion. For my Slaanesh, I need to finish up on the cardboard Land Raider with chaos ornaments and other decoratives. Chaos can't be denied! Death to the False Emperor!!

Legio 40k Tourney

Its 2 days away and my Cadian 7th are prep up and ready for battle! Azlan will be coming down with his Bradenburg so that makes 2 IG armies from Legio (not that I know of any other IG player from Legio, perhaps Iz but he'll be fielding his orks). Its goin to be fierce, its goin to be bloody and I'm sure the Singaporeans contigents are going to bring the heat as well. During Spore I didn't got the chance to battle with most of them and I and relish the opportunity in this coming tourney.

Anyways the Cadian 7th performed exceptionally well in the league thus far with 6 wins and 1 loss. But the tourney list will be slightly different from the league as I've added more firepower, in the version of a coverted Manticore (see below) .I hope it can do much damage in coming tournament. For the Emperor!!

After the league and Legio tourney, the Cadian 7th will be off duty for awhile and I'm going back to my Chaos roots by tidying up my Slaanesh army and finish up my Black Legion project. Also I'm starting a Vampire Count army soon, will explain more later.

Quite brittle army list and careful plannings/tactics are needed due to low resources. But that's where lies the fun! I had experience with 2 land raiders Slaanesh army during the 2nd Season Legio League and it was a force to be reckoned with. The DPs with LoS to attract vulnerable units to Doom Siren range and assault them since they are I 6. The Chosen will be the surprise element with their ability to outflank and pop enemy tanks with melta (Iqbal's idea). 2 units of NM are to embark into the Land Raider and surge forward or take up defensive position. The other NM in Rhino are to contest or grab objectives. Finally Oblits will provide heavy fire support or acts as a surprise attack with their deep strike capability.

Arenxis Campaign - Week 2

All goes well for the Cadian 7th as they reclaimed the Hubris Spaceport from the nurgle cohorts, the Unclean. Had an awesome battle with Jeff, and I tell you his army was tough and his lesser daemons are a scary bunch (WS 4 I4 A2, maybe it can work with my Slaanesh army, to consider..) especially against IG. The battle was fought on a City Fight terrain table and cover save are abundance. But the Cadian 7th Armour's awesome fire power prevailed nonetheless. Also Jeff posted the second issue of Aquila News Network and personally I think it was awesome work! Kudos to Jeff! Go and check it out.

Arenxis Minoris Campagin

Wow, its been awhile since I've updated anything on this blog. Well as most Legio 40k enthusiast know, the Arenxis Campaign is ongoing at the moment with me being the faction leader for the Forces of Order. Not a good start for the good guys as we lost all the spaceport during the 1st week of the campaign. This week the Imperium will return with a vengeance and to claim back all lost spaceports and expand our territory at the same time. I have a score to settle with the Chaos faction leader Lord Minthras aka Jeff and his nurgle minions. The Cadian 7th has been unleashed and only one will come out thriumphant. For the Emperor.

Meanwhile, I've finish painting and dippede at least 90% of all my Cadian 7th Armour ( see below) For me, it looks awesome once dipped in Minwax's Golden Oak and a few sprays of Tamiya Flat. (Thanks to Jeff for the awesome idea) So what do you guys think?

Cadian 7th in action - against Eldar of Altansar

Got back from Alor Star and went down to Wolf's lair for a round of 40k with Khairul's Eldar. It was a rainy Saturday afternoon but the sun definitely shone on the Cadians with a delicious victory over the Eldar. I tweaked my list a bit from previous battles, here goes:

Khairul's Eldar list: Eldrad with 5x Seer Council in Wave Serpent, Farseer with 7x Dire Avengers in Falcon, 6x Fire Dragons in Falcon, 2 5x Pathfinders squad, 3 Warwalkers with Scatter Lasers and a Wraithlord.

Mission: Annihilation - Pitched Battle. Result - Win (6-2 killpoints)

The terrain was fairly open with a big barricade on the Cadians center deployment zone. Big chunks of rocks and small hills littered the battlefield which provided lots of cover. The Eldar made it difficult with its Fortune, holo fields capability but it didn't last long against the Imperial Guard firepower. I must say Khairul's dice rolls were quite bad in terms of vehicle penetration results. Lots of ramming and brightlance shots mostly managed to score only stun result. I was lucky but the Cadians prevailed nonetheless. The story-report as below:

It was blisterring hot on Wolf Prime 31 as midday approaches. Faizal, Commander of Cadian 7th 2nd Company, scours the dunes for any Eldar spotters with his satellite guided binoculars. 'We need to breach this Eldar blockade to link up with the Raven Guards on the other side of the planet' adviced Faizal to his aide de camp Senior Officer Amru. Nodded in agreement, Amru vox in a secured frequency, ordering the Cadians to prepare for battle. Al-Rahem and his platoons already recon ahead, ready to outflank any encroaching Eldar. 'Two Eldar grav-tanks approaching my lord, vector 3.12 south!' informed from the Wrath of Holn. 'Good, our first kill of the day' Faizal grinned devilishly. 'Men, move out!' bellowed the commander

The rumbling of the Leman Russes tracks shook the ground. Cannons that could level a hab block roared and hit the Eldar's sleek vehicles. But Eldar witchcraft and advanced tech prevented it from harm and not even a scratch on the Eldar tanks. Disbelief, Faizal ordered one of the Tanith Veterans to disembark from their Chimera to 'melta' out one of the tanks, but to no avail. An ancient looking Farseer with his councils disembarked and charge the exposed Taniths wiping them out. The other Eldar tank moved east and disgorged Eldar Fire Dragons to target the incoming Valkyrie. The Valkyrie crashed but remain operational. The Fire Dragons cheered in some xenos language but their victory dance was not long as Cadians came out from the damaged Valkyrie and wipe them out with precised lasgun shots. Seeing their bretheren was brutally murdered, the second Tanith Veterans change course and target the Farseer with melta and lasgun shots. With fire support from the Annihilator and Kedah's Pride, the ancient Farseer suddenly banished leaving only one surviving council. He was gutted by the unending Straight Silver lashes from the Taniths.

Meanwhile, Al-Rahem moved forward to rid off any potential Eldar snipers on the northeast quadrant. He was later ambushed and killed by an Eldar raiding party led by a young farseer, as reported in Al-Rahem's last combat log. Only his Chimera came out alive. Eldar reinforcement coming from the north in the forms of walkers squadron with laser cannons and a mighty Wraithlord. Scatter laser shots hits the already immobilised Valkyrie, only managed to destroyed its missile pod. Brightlance shot from the Wraithlord had no significant impact on the Valkyrie. 'The emperor must be smiling on this day'said the relief pilot. Wrath of Holn's battle cannon roared and hit the incoming war walkers. They were all obliterated in a pile of shattered wraithbones and other xenos matter. The Taniths came out of hiding from the Valkyrie and aim their meltaguns at the approaching Wraithlord. 'Bring it down! Bring it down!' ordered Faizal whom was nearby. 'Eat melta, fething Eldar scum! shouted by one of the Taniths. The Wraithlord didn't stand a chance and slump to the ground, lifeless.

In the center flank, the seemingly invulnerable Eldar tank at first, was immobilised after a Demolisher Cannon hit its rear thrusters, thanks to advice from S.O Amru. The Eldar, suffered tremendous losses, subjected to ramming from their sleek tanks to any Cadian visible target, mainly the Chimeras. Again the Emperor seems to smile on the Cadians as nothing significant impacted on the sturdy transport. Seeing their ancient Farseer was banished coupled with huge losses, the Eldar flee from the battlefield as they blends in with the dessert. 'Should we gave chase, sir? inquires Amru. 'Negative, they are too weak to fight us now. The way is now clear and prepare to move out' orders Faizal. Although his losses are minimal, but losing Al-Rahem was as equivilent to losing an entire battalion. 'Goodbye, old friend.' Faizal spoke in a soft sombre tone.

Cadian 7th In Action - against White Scars

This will be the first battle report for my Cadian 7th IG. I had mixed results from previous engagements with 1 win and 1 lost (both against Subhans's Chaos Daemons) and also a draw against Iqbal's Raven Guard. I had a round with Subhan's White Scar's yesterday and boy how I nearly lost the game, which ended up draw. Army list below:

Han's White Scar army list if remembered correctly, Korsaro Khan, Chaplain, 7x A. Terminators with LC and 2 TH in Land Raider Crusader. 2x Scout squad (5x each), 1x Tactical Squad in Rhino (5x men) with Plasma Gun and Power Fist, Vindicator, 2x Pred (Lascannon and Sponson Lascannon) with Chronus.

Mission: Siege Ground - 3 Objectives, Pitched Battle. Result - draw

Terrain was fairly open with 4 big hills on all flanks and some ruins located at the centre table. Since my unit are all in reserve, Han proceed to deploy all of his forces, with heavy concentration on 1 objective on his right flank. A scout unit infiltrated to cover 1 objective on a hill deep in his deployment. I've created a story format rather than standard battle report. Well here goes:

The Cadians and their Tanith allies entered the battlefield except for the Valkyrie and the Wrath of Holn. Commisar Hark ordered the Infantry platoon to outflank the incoming land raider. Al Rahem and his Vets entered on the other side of the battlefield to grab the objective held by the marine scouts. Faizal's Command Squad alongside a Tanith Veteran squad came out from hiding to assist the brave guardsmen. The Annihilator positioned itself on the slopes of a small hill and Kedah's Pride kept a vigilant distance to make full use of its deadlybattle cannon. Meltagun shots and a blast from the Annihilator's Demolisher cannon only disabled the mighty Land Raider. Volleys of multilaser shots from the Tanith Chimera crippled the White Scar's Vindicator Demolisher Cannon and Kedah's Pride battle cannon overshot and create a huge crater behind the White Scar's position. Commisar Hark rallied his platoons to face the impeding horrors that coming out of the Land Raider...

With a great warshout, Korsaro Khan and his Terminators emerged from the Land Raider and charged the guardsmen. If it not for Hark's zeal and leadership the entire platoon would have flee. Lightning Claws and Thunder Hammers clashed with lasgun bayonets and knifes. They fought like warrior poets. Hark and his brave guardsmen fought till the very end...Chronus's Predator targeted all its laser cannons towards Kedah's Pride and destroyed it. The Annihilator's crew suffered a temporary blackout after a las cannon shot shook the old Leman Russ's hull.

All hopes were not lost when Commander Faizal ordered Senior Officer Amru to disembarked from the Chimera to stop Korsaro and his Terminators. It seems suicidal but that was the only way to decelerate their advance. The Land Raider was obliterated by a precised meltagun shot from Amru's crew. Seeing the incoming threat, the Taniths change their course and positioned themselves behind a hill to target Korsaro. This was to bought time, nothing more. In the centre flank, Wrath of Holn finally arrived. Its battle cannon roared and destroyed one enemy predator to bits. In the northern quadrant, Al Rahem surged forward towards the objective held by the scouts, guns ready. Out of a sudden, a woooshh super sonic sound deafens the environment. The Valkyrie 'skimmers' over them like a fiery phoenix and spew out its lethal load. The Tanith's Veteran immediately unload torrential volleys of death at the scouts. Meltagun and lasgun shots cut the marine scouts to pieces.

On the left flank Korsaro with this Terminators rampaged through the Cadian Command Squad. Lightning Claws fed on human gore and limbs. Senior officer Amru fought valiantly and finally succumbed to a Thunder Hammer blow to the head. Enraged at the death of his Senior Officer, Faizal disembarked from his command vehicle and shouted obscenity at Korsaro. Meanwhile, the Tanith attempted to outflank the White Scars with lasgun shots and melta. Storm shields and the bulky ceramite plasteel of a Terminator armour made a mockery of such shots. Korsaro, enraged of the obscenity thrown at him, directed his Terminators to engaged Faizal and his Veterans. It was over in five minutes, Faizal only after 25 Lightning Claw lashes, succumbed to his wound and fell. Seeing their leader killed in such a brutal manner, the Tanith's swore revenge and would deny the Space Marines their price. Shouting, 'Men of Tanith, do you want to live forever!!'. With a thunderous roar, they charged into the meatgrinder that awaits them. Korsaro, with a silent whisper, 'they are truly warriors of the emperor'. None of the Tanith's survived.

The final hour approaches as times running out for both forces. Korsaro directed his Tactical Squad to engaged Al Rahem on the northern region. Al Rahem and his Veterans were holding the important objective, grabbed from the scouts while Korsaro's forces held one objective deep in their deployment zone. A Rhino transport surged forward towards Al Rahem. Chronus provided backup fire, targeting at Rahem's Chimera and managed to destroy it, killing 3 Veterans at the same time. Al Rahem, dazed from the explosion emerged unscathed and prepared for the coming onslaught. Suddenly a battle cannon roared and hit the incoming Rhino. Surprised, Rahem immediately Vox in on an open channel, inquiring who has fired. "It is the Wrath of Holn sir, bless the Emperor you're still alive" replied the tank commander. The Rhino was a wreck and 3 marines appeared from the wreckage. Bolter and plasma shots killed Al Rahem's remaining veteran. Renewed with combat vigor, Al Rahem unholstered his plasma pistol and shot at the Space Marines. One was bathed in white plasma fire and died. Without hesitation, Al Rahem unsheathed his power sword and charged. The two remaining Space Marines was hacked to death, limb to limb.

Sighing relief of surviving, but the objective held by him previously has been compromised and had to be abandoned. The only solution to prevent the White Scars from escaping the system with the precious objective, Al Rahem, ordered the remaining Tanith in the Valkyrie to infiltrate the enemy's deployment zone and destroy the objective. An order he regret to give. But the Taniths have the courage of steel and without saying a word they embarked on the Valkyrie and flew straight into the lions den. Al Rahem could see from afar the Valkyrie was shot down, fearing the worst that the Taniths had died for nothing. As he prepared to move out, a low hiss coming from his Vox "Ca..p.tain...o..b.jective des..tr..oyed..mis.sion accompl....ttztztztztztztztzzztt.." and followed by a noise which he can't make out.

Legio Birthday Bash and Golden Kris Competition

Another awesome event by Legio Malaysia! Kudos to Jeff and Azlan for their superb effort in making this event such a success. Perhaps in the future, Legio can make this an international event and I'm sure our brothers in S'pore would like to join as well, especially the Golden Kris painting competition. Played 5 rounds of CP battles with 2wins, a draw and 2 losses (am too lazy to do Bat Rep writeup..). Plus awesome models on display and clearly my favorite was Khairul's Eldrad, he truly deserved his award (must be the orange muffin..lol) Anyways congrats to all the winners for the CP and Golden Kris competition. The Golden Kris really motivated me to paint better and proved there other ways of winning in a 40k competition rather concentrate on bashing your opponents to dust. I've posted some photos for your pleasure..Ave Legio! Oh, almost forgot bout the video montage! Great stuff Jeff!

Spore Con 2009 Battle Reports

It was a good run for me at Spore with 2 wins and 1 lose. First opponent was Stanley fellow Malaysian but working in S'pore, fielding a shooty Ultramarines army. Second round was Peter Cheah (of all people..) and the final round against another Legio member Keh Win with his Tau. My armt list as below:

1st Round against Stanley's Ultramarine (Spearhead, Siege Ground-6 objective with 1 Vital) Win.

Special Rules: Peek-a-Boom (moved within 3" on all objectives, suffers AP-D6 Strength-2D6 on a roll of 4 and above)

Stanley's list, if I remember correctly was, Librarian Tigurius in Termi Armour, 6 Termis with Cyclone Launcher, 1 Dreadnoughts with Multi Melta, 1 Dreadnought with lascannon and missile launcher, 3 10x men Tactical Squad, 2 Devastator with Heavy Bolters, Lascannon and Missile Launchers and 2 Rhinos and 1 Razorback with Lascannon

The terrain was fairly difficult with lots of marshes and small hills across the battlefield and also a huge pyramid on my left flank. Stanley went first and deployed all his forces with 3 Tac Squads covering most of the objectives in his deployment zone. Termis and Tigurius leads the spearhead along with the Dreadnoughts. Devastators positioned deep in his territory to provide heavy fire support. His Rhinos however were deployed empty, mainly to contest objective, and blocking LOS. Razorback was deployed near the devastators position.

I deployed everything within 12' of the centre table with 3 Rhinos bound with Plague Marines and Noise Marines, Manaroth and Slaanesh DP followed closely. Obliterators took up position on the lower levels of the pyramid targeting the incoming Termis and Dreadnoughts.

Stanleys started the turn with forward movements from Tigurius with Termis, Dreadnoughts and Rhinos. Ultramarines volleys of bolter rounds, lascannon shots, and missiles, but it seems didn't do any justice. I expected as much coming from a shooty army. I moved forward the Rhinos while Manaroth and Slaanesh DP flew forward to target the contesting Tac Squad in his deployment zone. Oblits purposefully moved to have a better firing position. Slaanesh DP attempted to Lash but roled double 12 and lose 1 wound. Kinda unfortunate cause I could Lash one Tac Squad towards Manaroth and he can flame them out with Winds of Chaos or charge them and simultaneously creates havoc and panic on the Ultramarines rear position. Oblits fired blanks and a bad turn one for me.

Turn 2, Stanley surged forward with his 1 Dreadnought and Tigurius with Termis. His shooting again was bad with lots of misses and I made good save rolls. He managed to wound one of the Oblits and the Slaasnesh DP though. I moved forward all of my troops and 1 Rhino with PM stayed back to cover the Vital objective. Manaroth and the wounded Slaanesh DP moved into assault position. At this point the Ultramarines started lose their ground. Tigurius and his Termis were wiped out with Plasma Cannon shots from the Oblits and the advancing Dreadnought was decimated by Meltagun shots from the PM. The rest of the turns saw most of his units and vehicles were cut down heavy fire from the Oblits and PMs. The MVP of this match was Manaroth himself. He went berserk in the Ultramarines rear position by wiping out 3 Tactical Squad and1 Devastator Squad before finally succumbed to heavy fire from the only remaining Devastator squad. In the end the forces of Chaos hold 3 objectives and a near total annihiliation for the Ultramarines.

2nd Round against Peter (Dawn of War, Capture & Control- objective with 1 Vital) Lost.

Special Rules: Night Fighting

Well most of you know his army list. I got TAed by Peter in this round, and that's all I can say about that..

3rd Round against Keh Win's Tau (Pitched Battle, Annihilation- objective with 1 Killpoint) Win.

Again battling a shooty army. Keh Win's positioned his army at the back end of his table edge to get a good firing line. The only option I have in this battle is to get him in assault mode. By 3rd turn, one of the PM squad and Manaroth are already locked in combat with the Tau leader Shadowsun. My Slaanesh DP was a disappointment, failed most of his armour saves, roll double 12 when to Lash and died caused by Perils of the Warp.

Tau are weak in close combat, but not in this battle. Shadowsun managed to tie down Manaroth and his PMs until turn 5 with good invul. saves. God only knows how frustrated I was.. At that point the game was tied at 4-4 killpoints. Deep in my center flank, another Tau commander deep strike and managed to kill 2 oblits only to be slaughtered later by another Oblits squad by plasma shots and power fist attacks. After finally killing Shadowsun, Manaroth again went berserk and slaughtered more fire warriors, adding more killpoints. The game ends on turn 7 which saw only 1 Tau Devilfish survivor,contesting the one vital killpoint. 7-5 killppints favoring me. By then I was super exhausted after nearly 8 hours of 40k goodness...only to recover after I was announced Spore Con 2009 Gamers Choice and seeing my wife's cheerful smile (after whole day of shopping) and also ate lots of chilli crabs at a halal Chinese restaurant. Its been a while since I posted anything on this blog, and a good way to start is to share some Spore Con moments. I had a blast of a time at Spore and it was a memorable experience indeed. We had 3 rounds of gruelling combat which I won 2 and lost 1, will explain later in the Bat Reps. To cap it up I was announced as the Gamers Choice for Spore which I bagged a trophy and a voucher from PI. Not bad for my first international tourney. Peter was crowned as the Best Overall Commander which saw Team Legio brought back two trophies. Ave Legio!

After 2 weeks absent from Legio, my hand were itching to roll them dices! I played 2 games with a new Chaos list (supposedly for Spore Con..) with good results. Below are the bat reps.

Against Arzmi (Daemon Hunters) Siege Ground, Spearhead (Win)

The games started with 3 objectives placed at center of the battlefield. Arzmi fielded 3 Land Raiders (crazy..), a Grandmaster, Stern, 3 squads of power armoured Grey Knigts with Justicars for every squad. He won the roll of and decided to go first,by deploying all to cover the objectives. I deployed within 12' of the center table with Rhinos (with troops), Vindicator behind Rhinos for cover save, DP and a squad of Oblits. The rest were reserved for deep striking. Attempted to sieze I,but failed.

1st turn action saw all my Rhinos were destroyed by Arzmi's accurate lascannon shots and my troops are now exposed, and things are not looking to good. Few NM felled to LR Crusader's Heavy Bolters and A.Cannon. I moved my PM forward to target his LR Crusader bound with a Grey Knight squad and a Grandmaster. NM moved back to get into cover, DP hid himself from LRs firing range and Oblits slowly advanced. Oblits lascannon shots didn't even dent an incoming LR on the left flank. PM meltagun shots obliterated the LR Crusader, exposing the GM and his GKs. Vindicator shot annihilated the GKs, leaving the GM alone.

2nd turn mostly about assault. GM, Stern and a GKs squad surged forward to target the PMs. More NMs felled to LR shots leaving only 4. Lascannon shots crippled the Vindi demo. cannon and the ensuing phase saw my PMs were assaulted by the enraged Grey Knights. Surprisingly my PMs managed to hold them off and even wounding the GM down to 1 wound. My turn saw the oblits deep striked to target the unladen LR at center flank and managed to destroy it. DP flew to assist the battered PMs. The other Oblits advanced to target the LR on the left flank and again missed. DP assaulted the GKs to avoid Stern, and again my PMs managed to hold leaving only the slimy A.Champion. DP was instantly banished back to the warp by Stern before taking down few GKs with him.

The following turns, the PM is finally killed by the GKs, only to face 3 Oblits, a Squad of NM and the finally arrived Terminators with Typhus. The GKs were completedly annihilated by plasma, doom siren, heavy flamer and bolter shots. The LR on the left flank was a wrecked thanks to Multi Melta shots from the Oblits and also forcing the remaining GK squad to disembark. Later on, the remaining GK assaulted the advanced Oblits and were completely obliterated with combination of P.Fist and Plasma Gun shots. 1 objective was secured and an unholy victory for Chaos!!

Against Rizal (Dark Eldar) Annihilation, Spearhead (Win)

This is the first time I've played against a Dark Eldar force and also Rizal for that matter. I'm not quite familiar with DE's wargears and arsenals, but I can tell that the Combat Drugs and Dark Lances are a nuissance and can really distrupt your army. His Wyches and Archon are a piece of work as well. The only problem that his forces have tons of kill points (guessing around 19..) which was unfavorable for him and all the more enticing for me, hehe. Anyways the game went on with me killing most of his transport with Dark Lances (Ravagers i think..) Archon, Wyches and many more. What the Dark Eldars lacks in armour, they compensate with powerful assault capabilities which saw my 1 Oblits squad, Typhus with Terminators were all killed by turn 3. The funny thing was, Typhus with attached Termis failed leadership, ran and was caught up and destroyed, sob..sob... The Vindicator was also destroyed contributing nothing in this battle. But the highlight of the game was my DP successfully made 5 invul saves consecutively from lance shots AND an Obliterator failed his 2+ armour saves from splinter cannon shots (how ironic..) The game ends with 13-5 kill points, favoring me.

Cadian 7th 'Lucky Seven'

I've decided to deviate from Chaos (for the time being..) to the Emperor's Hammer and Fist, the Imperial Guard! Yup that's right, with the new IG codex which is scheduled to be realeased in May, I've started painting a Leman Russ and a platoon of Cadians. Don't want to splurge too much until they release the codex with new IG minis selection..

My army will be loosely based on the Cadian 7th 'Lucky Seven' Division, entrusted to protect the Fotress World of Kasr Holn which is part of the Cadian System. During the 13th Black Crusade, Kasr Holn had suffered incursions from Chaos forces mainly daemonic entities and the 7th was at the forefront and successfully defended Kasr Holn. With that they were also known as 'daemon killers'. I've yet to figure out which tactics I'm using to for the 7th until I got my hands on the codex. Currently I'm thinking an Armoured Company force (3 leman russ, 2 medusa, 2 executioner..scary..) For Slaa...I mean Emperor!!

Season 2 League Recap

Its been a great Season 2 for me, as I finished at 4th place overall. I played 9 games with 5 Wins 3 Lose and 1 Draw (last 2 games I won against Nazrin and drew with Syameal). The list with 2 LR indeed a formidable force to be reckon with and I wouldn't mind dishing it out again in coming battles.

The list worked against most armies but crucial planning and placing will determine the survivability and achieving objectives. I'm looking forward for the Marksmanship small tourney and I'm sure most defeated armies would love to exact revenge on me. And I'm looking forward to it...HAIL SLAANESH!!

Season 2 League - Game 6 & 7

Sorry Bloggy, I've been neglecting you..I played a few more league games and here's to sum up some of the results.

Game 6 with Jo - Capture & Control, Spearhead (Loss)

I've never recorded a loss against Blood Angels before, the excellent record was shattered by Jo. I was really hoping for a win to strengthen my position in the league. It seems carelessness and rules overlooked that caused the most damage. Jo, you broke my heart man...Anyways here's the report:

Jo won the rolloff and deployed all his forces in the middle with his Vindicator, 2 Baal Preds, a squad of bikes with Multimelta, DC squad and loads of A.Squads led by Dante. 1 assault squad hanging back to protect his objective and also a Drop pod with 5 man Tac.Squad in reserve. Seeing his forces all deployed in the middle, I opted for a shooting position and deployed my forces right at the end of my table edge and 1 squad of NM in reserve. This was to get out of range from his Demolisher Cannon. I realised that this tactic was a wrong move indeed.

To sum up this game would have the other way around should it continue to turn 6, due to my LR with a squad of NM, was not on time to reach his objective in his deployment. To the south flank, Dante and few remaining A.Squad, would have been lashed by the DP and shot down by my other LR. Oh well, u win some u lose some..

Game 7 with Iz - Siege Ground, Pitched Battle (Loss)

I never seem to learn my lesson of assaulting Feel No Pain troops and in this game my Slaanesh forces was basically food for the Orks. Iz, famously known with his terrorizing Nob bikers proved to be more than a match for the forces of Slaanesh.

But I did managed to strecthed Iz up to turn 5, and it could have been a draw as well since both holding one objective each. Well luck seem to favor the Orks and the game went on to turn 6. Nob bikers crushed the NMs guarding the objective ending my hope for a draw. It could've been a TA too if it wasn't for one surviving LR contesting for an objective at the NortWest quadrant of the table.

Game 4 with Iqbal – Annihilation (8-0), Dawn of War (Win)

Iqbal's Raven Guard has a high concentration of Scouts and some are reserved for outflanking. Obviously for all RG army, they are led by the infamous Captain Shrike. His troops consists of Assaults Squads with Jumpacks, a Dreadnought, Tac. Squad with Rhino and a Vindicator kept in reserve. I got to go first and as usual for DoW deployment, I didn't deploy anything on the table. Not knowing where I'm going to deploy, Shrike with A.Squads infiltrated deep in my deployment zone, inside a dense jungle. 2 units of Scouts deployed behind a bunker in his deployment zone and a Scout squad deployed in jungle facing my right flank.

All of my forces came in with a LR and a squad of NM on the left flank to surround Shrike and his troops. The rest are positioned on the right flank. It seems to me that Iqbal made a mistake deploying Shrike in the jungle and my Doom Siren took care of his troops, leaving Shrike gravely wounded. DP lashed the Scouts in the jungle, placing them in the open and plasma cannons took care of the rest.

Iqbal forces came in with his Dreadnought, A.Squads on his right and a Rhino on the left flank. Shrike, attempting to avenge his dead comrades, charged the NM squad in front of the LR. He felt before taking down four NMs with him. 3 kill points scored.

The rest of the turns are basically a slaughter for the RG. All of his advancing/outflanking troops are either killed by Doom Siren shots or were charged and slaughtered by the DP and NMs. Iqbal's Tac. Squad managed to wound my Dp down to 1, but reinforcements from the left managed to saw off those pesky T.Squad.

His Vindicator (in turn 4, I think..) finally came in as Iqbal forgot to roll for reserve and attempted to shot down my entrenched Oblits but was well out of range. It was destroyed later by my Oblits lascannons. By then I've scored enough kill points to secure a win and game ends on turn 5. Another big blow for the forces of the False Emperor!

Season 2 League - Game 4

Game 4 with Khairul – Siege Ground, Dawn of War (Win)

This game was against Khairul's Eldar of Altansar. I have always loathed going into battle with these treacherous aliens with their Doom, Guide, Holofield and etc crap. This battle was more of shooting gallery rather than assaulting (didn't go into assault phase at all!). We basically exchanged fire and that was it.

Khairul got to deploy first, placing his Rangers behind a hill and a Wave Serpent carrying a Farseer and Dire Avengers. I've decided not to deploy anything and all of my forces will come later in the second turn.

Turn 2
Khairul's forces came into the fray with 2 Falcons transporting Eldrad with Banshees and Fire Dragons, and also a squadron of 3 War Walkers with Scatter Lasers. Brightlance with Pulse laser shots on my LR but no damage done (sighing relief..)

I moved forward with 1 LR, deploying a NM squad, and my DP towards the entrenched Rangers. The lure of Slaanesh are to tempting for them as they were lashed and moved closer into Doom Siren range. The rangers were decimated (1 scoring unit down). The other LR did their part, caused 'Shaken' on Falcon A, nullified his B.Lance. Things are looking good so far..

Turn 3
The 'shaken' Falcon A fled back closer to the W. Walkers (I'm not sure why he did that..). Falcon B's B.Lance shots coupled with Pulse Lasers killed 2 Oblits. 24 Scatter Lasers shots targeting the exposed NM unit, only managed to kill 2 NM! Slaanesh must be smiling indeed..

The exposed NM squad embarked in the LR while the LR pivoted and aimed its visible broadside lascannon on Falcon B, to avenged the 2 dead Oblits. The Falcon exploded killing 2 Fire Dragons at the same time. The remaining Oblit killed 2 more F.Dragons with its P.Cannon. The other LR shot at Falcon A causing a 'Stun' result'..oh well..moving on.

Turn 4
The Wave Serpent moved cautiously towards my deployement and the W.Walkers aiming its S.Laser on the sole Oblit and was obliterated. Nothing much he can do at this juncture

I moved my LR backwards to cover the other objective. At this point I'm controlling 2 objectives and confident of winning.

Turn 5
Falcon and Wave Serpent moved closer. W. Walkers also moved to target anything within their fire range

Land Raiders shot the incoming Falcon but only managed to get 'Shaken' result. Damn holofields...I moved my DP upfront as bait just in case the continues to Turn 6..and it did..

Turn 6

Things were beginning to look ugly. Khairul deployed his Dire Avengers and Farseer from the Falcon to cover the open objective, while the Falcon advanced to block my LR on the left flank. The wave serpent descended right in front of my scoring NM, deploying his Banshees and Eldrad. Few pistol shots on the scoring unit, but only 2 killed. Dire Avengers shot my DP but caused only 1 wound. But the S.Lasers finished him off right after. At least he took the bait..

I moved my scoring unit towards the Banshees and Eldrad but still maitaining coherency within the objective. The LR next to it deployed its fresh NM squad, targeting Eldrad and Banshees. Doom Siren and bolter shots finished them off. The game was still favoring me until it continued to Turn 7..arghhhh!!

Turn 7

Khairul didn't waste any time and moved his Falcon to contest the objective next to my lone NM on the hill. His Wave Serpent moved full speed to cover the other objective next to the LR. I realised at this point he made a few mistakes. Instead of targeting the lone NM, the Dire Avengers targeted the fresh NM squad, and 3 left standing (A.Champion survived). At this point he's controlling 1 objective and destined for the win.

But luck seems to favor me. I moved my LR on the right flank at cruising speed towards the Dire Avengers gun line, deploying with what ever left of the NM squad. The 3 remaining NM moved forward into Doom Siren range. The Dire Avengers could not stand a chance against 2 D.Siren attacks and were eliminated thus losing control of the objective. The LR on the left flank, pivoted and target the Falcon contesting on the hill. 1 lascannon and heavy bolter penetrating shots destroyed the Falcon resulting the lone scoring NM gaining back the objective. It was a close shave, but a much needed victory for the Children Slaanesh!

Codex Imperial Guard

The new IG Codex is on its way indefinitely and with lots of firepower upgrades especially with the Leman Russ tank variant. Apparently the latest IG summary sheet was accidentally released by GW France. One of the confirmed rumors, Leman Russ Punisher's gatling punisher: R: 24 S:5 AP:- Heavy 20 (where are those orks??!!). Plague Marines

After a stint with Peter's Chaos army, I found out that Plague Marines are a formidable force to be reckon with. This is due to their ultra resilient nature (T5 and Feel No Pain). I can't help myself to create a new 1500 pts Chaos Army. It's an Iron Warriors tenet but with a Nurgle flavor to it. Check it out:

Season 2 League - Game 3

Game 3 with Shazli – Annihilation 14-0, Pitched Battle (Win)

This game was a total massacre for Shazli’s Ultramarines, and I’ve never won a game with such magnitude (14 Kill points). Too bad I didn't take any photos. I won the roll-off and decided to go first. I deployed all of my forces, and entrenched my Oblits and a squad of NM behind a hill on my right flank for cover saves. The rest of my forces on the left flank advanced forward for the kill. Highlight of the game when his drop pod with Sternguards landed on the hill where my Oblits and NM were entrenched, but managed to kill only a single Oblit. His left flank with Land Speeders trying to shoot down my Oblits but I got lucky with my armor saves.

On the right flank, my forces were doing exceptionally well, gaining kill points by killing off his scouts, chaplain, assault squads, attack bike, etc.. I felt pity for Shaz as his dice roles were horrible, imagine demolisher cannon scoring a hit on my LR but with 2D6 roles of 1 and 3!

On the left flank, his sternguards on the hill were decimated and my Oblits managed to destroy one of his land speeders. By then I have enough kill points to secure a win and at the same time didn’t suffer any losses. But with Shaz’s Astartes iron will, still fought on till the very end. In the end, only a single combat squad left on his right flank above a hill. A crushing victory for the Children of Slaanesh!

Season 2 League - Game 2

Game 2 with Chang – Siege Ground (3 Objectives), Dawn of War (Win)

Chang’s IG army with 14 lascannons! No vehicles but pure Infiltrating footsloggers. Again the deployment was DoW, but it worked well for me as it nullifies most of his troops infiltrating capability. 2 objectives was in my deployment quadrant and 1 objective near his deployment. Arrogantly I, deployed 1squad of NM and my DP in the middle of the table, in front of Chang’s gun line, hoping to inflict maximum carnage in the first turn. Well they did killed off a few guardsmen but the rest at the back were waiting with their plasma guns, flamers, lascannons…the DP and squad of NM were annihilated, in the first turn. I will never underestimate these Emperor’s lapdogs ever again.

I took a safer approach in the coming turns by going to ‘shooty’ mode rather than charge the IG’s blindly. I disembarked all my NM’s to cover the objectives. Obliterators are on spot with their plasma cannons, inflicting a lot casualty for Chang’s IG. LR’s also scored lots of kills, preventing his IG’s advance at the same time. Sadly Chang’s lascannons hardly killed anything, due to misses and poor LoS, The game ends with me holding 2 objectives. A solid victory for the Children of Slaanesh!

Season 2 League - Game 1

Game 1 with Peter – Capture & Control, Dawn of War (Loss)

His army was really a tough nut to crack. He’s using Abadon and accompanying him a DP with Wings and LoS ,6 Oblits and 2 squads of Plague Marines. Peter placed his objective marker right in the middle of the table and mine behind a bunker, deep in my deployment zone. Not that I’m complaining but I’m still figuring out how to strategize my army with DoW deployment.

My first turn, instead deploying all my troops, I selected my DP and a squad of NM for deployment, immediately run my NM to cover the objective. Peter deployed all his Rhino mounted PMs, Abadon and DP near his objective. My LR’s and Oblits came in the second turn, and attempt to shoot down Peter’s Rhino but all missed. Peter deep striked 2 obliterators squad in front of my LR and managed to destroy one LR. Things started to going down hill from that point on. He moved his Rhinos at full speed towards my remaining LR and deployed all his PMs. Few meltagun shots on the LR but no damage done. Abadon and the DP moved forward towards my NM covering the objective.

The third turn will show how tough the PMs are. I moved my surviving LR at cruising speed towards the PM’s line and deployed my NM. Survivors from the wrecked LR moved forward toward the PMs ignoring the Oblits. Doom Siren shots engulfed the PMs but managed to kill only a few. (Feel No Pain mahh). Foolishly, I assaulted the PMs and the NMs fate were sealed at that point. All of the NM were annihilated. Abadon, living up to its terror reputation killed off all the NM contesting for the objective. By then my remaining LR was destroyed from the PM’s meltagun shots and my DP flew to contest his objective in the middle but Peter’s DP and PM’s managed to see him off in the 6th turn. It was a total annihilation against the Children of Slaanesh!

Lesson learned for this match:

1) Avoid assaulting the PMs. Instead, shoot down his Rhino transport capability to slow them down.
2) I have 2 LR’s and can out maneuver him easily by taking off his Oblits first with help from DP’s lash ability.
3) As for Abadon, well I’m not on the verge of facing him in combat and the best way is to stay away as far as I can.

Next time Peter, next time…

Lash Hammer against Azlan

Azlan was kindly enough to allow me and Subhan to have a few rounds of 4ok at his home. I played 2 games with Lan and lost both. Well you can't beat the master at his own turf, hehe. But anyways the first game was a close one with his Thousand Sons in which it was a killpoint game, 4-3 in favor of Lan. Both of us have abysmal dice roles and it would have been a draw if I'd kill the last two remaining TS models. My DP only managed to destroyed his land raiders sponsons lascannon. My noise marines managed to kill all his assaulting TS which is quite an achievement and my LR FINALLY managed to killed of his DP after he wiped out my Oblits unit to oblivion! It was a fun game indeed. Lesson learned, Land Raiders are gooooood..

Second game was against his Eldar and mission was Siege Ground with 5 objectives. I don't quite remember how the game went, but I do remember how my LR and Oblits managed to shot his Falcons and Fire Prism (destroyed prism cannon). The biggest mistake was moving my Rhino with 10 CSM to contest for an objective deep in his deployment territory. They got wiped out by his Banshees. And the second biggest mistake was not finishing off his 1 remaining ranger located near a wood which was close to an objective. In the last turn the lone ranger managed to contest even though I had my land raider there with a NM squad inside. At the end of turn 5 Lan managed to hold 2 objectives and I can turn things around if the game continue to turn 6. Subhan had the honour of rolling the dice, and the result..................................................................................he roll a one! And the game ends..huhuhu

Hobby Nite cancelled

I was looking forward for a few games at Legio tonight, but then Hobby Nite was cancelled. Well things happen. Probably I'll get some to guys to play at home.

Had a round with Shahril's SoBs yesterday with my 'Lash Hammer army' and added another notch on my win record (Killpoint 8-2). He hasn't been playing for quite sometime and still getting used to 5th ed rules. He'll get the hang of it soon.

Daemon Prince

Good thing with plastic products from GW, it gave you lots and lots of sprues. With these additional sprues, I built that guy up there. The tail is made of blue tacs and tons of super glue to harden it. He's my army's Daemon Prince at the moment and has been a great servant thus far (should keep kill scores). Moving forward I'm going to replace the square base to the proper 50mm base standardised for all DP's. And also to think of a name and fluff for this guy.

Scratch-built Land Raiders

Since I'm not willing to cough up few hundred buckeroos for land raiders, said to myself, why not build them? Above were my recent projects and I think it looks decent and playable. And it cost me around less than RM 20 to build the chasis and the main body parts. Then I just add up others sprue to make it more real. Too bad I didn't take photos during construction process, a reminder for the next land raider project. Checkout this yahoo group for other various scratch built vehicles. Have fun.

Hi, this will be my first posting for this blog. Naturally I don't like to write but I wouldn't mind writing which regards to W40k since this is my latest passionate hobby. Well, I'm a Chaos Marine player dedicated to Slaanesh. I've came out with an army list which I think is quite decent since winning 3 games thus far during hobby nite. Here goes:

I called it 'lash hammer' for the DP with LoS pull/push ability and 2 land raiders as the 'hammer' for this army.

The tactics are quite simple, land raiders will act as the hammer and move forward to deliver the Noise Marines into assault range. AP 3 Doom siren will do the trick prior to assault. CSM will hang back to cherry pick objectives and obliterators will deepstrike and target enemy heavies. Land raiders are hard to kill in 5th Ed and will contest for any objectives or just simply bloodletting for kill points.
